May 8, 2023—Sioux Falls, South Dakota--Aerostar invites middle and high school groups to learn about professions in aerospace engineering, operations, and manufacturing technologies at Aerostar Balloon Day 2023 on October 5, 2023.
Aerostar has pioneered advances in stratospheric ballooning and other innovative technologies for more than 67 years. Our stratospheric balloon systems are utilized by NASA, the Department of Defense, and Universities to solve aerospace challenges across the world. Aerostar team members design, develop, and manufacture advanced stratospheric platforms, radars, and protective wear to connect, protect, and save lives.
“Aerostar is committed to making a difference in our local community. One of the ways we do that is by inspiring the next generation of aerospace engineers and technicians,” said Jim Nelson, Aerostar President. “We want to share the work we do every day with 6th-12th grade students so they can see first-hand how the skills they are learning in school will help them take on exciting careers in aerospace as adults.”
Event highlights include hands-on workshops to learn about stratospheric balloon components, navigation, payloads, recovery parachutes, and other flight operations, stations and testing of materials used to manufacture lighter-than-air products, and a balloon launch (weather permitting).
Schools must register by May 15, 2023 and space is limited. Home school groups are also welcome. For more information and registration instructions, visit https://aerostar.com/about/aerostar-balloon-day
