Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx), a solar geoengineering experiment to be carried out in the near future by Harvard University, has selected Raven Aerostar as its balloon provider for the project. SCoPEx is designed to advance understanding of stratospheric aerosols that could be relevant to solar geoengineering. The experiment will address questions about how particles interact with one another, with the background stratospheric air, and with solar and infrared radiation.
The Raven Aerostar balloon, the heart of the experiment, will carry equipment to create a small controlled volume of stratospheric air and observe its evolution for over 24 hours.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with this great team.
